I used to go to the original in Hoboken back in the 70s and 80s. When Carlstadt (Rutherford?) opened, I went once for nostalgic purposes (although it was nothing at all like the place I remembered.) I thought it was stiff and congested, but I'll probably say that about any busy place.
They are a casual place , the service is quick and food is casual as well . Many people go to watch games there on game days . I usually get a sandwich such as lobster salad or shrimp my companion always orders the mussels in wine sauce and practically licks the bowl after dipping bread in it .The parking lot can be filled all day I am not sure what stiff means in the review by abchower but it does get crowded . I have only been there at lunch time so I dont know .what the crowd is like at night but its fine during the day . .
