Boiled Peanuts, Concord, NC
I read your post a couple of days ago and was brainstorming on where I've seen kettles of freshly boiled peanuts. I usually just seem them here or there at gas stations.
Well today I stumbled upon some at Reid's Fine Foods in Fort Mill, SC (just south of Ballantyne and across the state line). It used to be Young's Plantation but now it is a branch of the main Reid's on Selwyn Ave.
Right up front they have two black kettles of boiled peanuts, regular flavor and Cajun flavor. I asked if they had them at their main store on Selwyn Ave in Charlotte and they didn't think so.
Their address & tel.# is:
112 Overhill Dr
Fort Mill, SC 29707
FYI, they also have deep-fried peanuts of all different flavors. These peanuts are fried in their shells and are meant to be eaten unshelled - you eat the shell. Weird, I know. ;)
Other than there and the random gas station, I simply don't know where to point you. The local grocery stores here sell the canned boiled peanuts but surely you don't want those.
