  1. Besito's menu looks great, not to mention I love that place. Anyone been out for a RW meal? Where did you go? Was it busy? Worth it?

So much for Middlesex and Fairfield county offerings, tho'. GEEZ!

WE were at Black Eyed Sally last night before going to The Bushnell. Didn't want to spend a lot of time in the restaurant and it is within an easy walking distance. It was probably about 2/3 full when we left but it could also be due to the music. We took our dessert home and commented that we wold have spent about the same amount WITHOUT ordering dessert. We received regular size portions.

        Besito's restaurant week.
We went, it was very good in all respects. They also allow you to have anything off regular menu for a $5 added cost, which seems very fair.

Nice! Wish we could've made it, but it wasn't in the cards.Glad you were able to enjoy. :)

      2. The business association did a piss poor job of getting restaurants from the sw part of the state to participate.

1 restaurant in Stratford and two branches of SBC in Fairfield County. What a joke. And what CH cares that they signed up TGIFriday's? BLECCHHH................

This promotion looks like a Hartford love affair. Other cities in CT run their own restaurant weeks, couldn't Hartford do one under their own flag. Calling this Connecticut Restaurant Week is skewed and an insult to much of the state.

It is also Fairfield Restaurant week with over 30 different places on the list, granted not with pricing at $20.13. Why would they take part in a state promotion when they have their own at the same time. West Haven is also having their own promotion this week as well.

I do agree about not caring for TGIFridays or Buffalo Wild Wings but ChowHound isn't sponsoring the event. BTW, Taste of Hartford was the week of July 22.

          1. re: jcanino

Then don't promote this as CT Restaurant Week.............

            1. re: bagelman01

I don't think jcanino is running it. ;) I do agree with you--they (whoever "they" are) branded it all wrong. If different areas of Connecticut are running their own shows, just call it Hartford Restaurant Week. They do have a nice showing for that neck of the woods--just not much representation beyond it.

It's sponsord by the CONNECTICUT RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION and Sysco,.
That's what ticks my off. It's not sponsored by the Hartford Restaurant Association.

If I owned a Fairfiled County Restaurant and paid dues to the association I'd be really miffed that my dues were promoting thi sham of a statewide event. Let the Hartford area raise their own funds and promote their own restaurant week as it's done elsewhere around the state.

Ah, I see. That would be a problem.

                  1. re: bagelman01

I have to wonder how many of the Fairfield County restaurants are are members or active participants in the Connecticut Restaurant Association. That little corner of the state relates more to NY so that could be why they do their own thing.

                    1. re: jcanino

I don't know how many FFD County restaureants belong to the Ct Restaurant Association.

I do know that the restaurant in SONO that my daughter works at and its 3 sister restaurants in the county belong and they are not part of CT Restaurant Week.

The association is not primarily a marketing group. It is a lobby group that represents the interests of all CT restaurants as those interests relate to state government. As such it is in the interest of FFD County restauranteurs to belong. While they may be in metro NY, their taxes are decided in Hartford.

          2. Here is a list of all of the weeks in case you haven't seen it, many have passed, but still a few left this year.

            1. We went to Bricco in Glastonbury tonight, it was just ok....meal was ok, but nothing to rush back to. I was a bit annoyed as the menu on this link and the one on their website was a bit different, but when we got to the restaurant there was a third version....I know ingredients change and we were there at the end of the week, but it was still frustrating and felt a little used....the waitress did accommodate a request for the previously mentioned chicken parm, so that was nice, but it seems like the kind of place that would always have that so why take it off the fixed menu.....anyway, nice night out overall, but I won't be rushing back. Anyone else take part?
