Super early breakfast - Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill

At the end of October we are flying into RDU on a red-eye from LAX. We arrive at the crack of OMG-why-am-I-not-in-bed-still. Since I will want food and coffee soon after landing, I am looking for a delicious and early place to have breakfast. Someplace that opens at least by 7, and 6:30 would be even better. I've searched the boards and gotten lots of recs, but many places don't open until later. Help? We're ending up in Chapel Hill and would rather not head in the opposite direction. Thanks so much!

    1. Whole Foods in CH opens at 7.

      1. Rise is great. But, if you're looking for an incredible breakfast with service, how about Heron's at The Umstead? It opens at 6:30am (I think every day, but check the weekends). It's in the opposite direction, but only a couple of miles.

Trust me. You'll totally detox there right after landing.

        1. Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen in Chapel Hill is a landmark destination. Get the fried chicken biscuit, with or without cheese. They're open at 6:30AM. Only caveat is they're a drive-through. I would buy the biscuits and then head over to Caffe Driade just up the road and get some of the best coffee or espresso drinks you'll find in the Triangle.

          1. Elmo's diner in Durham is open at 6:30. I used to spend many a morning there when I wanted something off campus!
