Birthday lunch at Le Cinq or Guy Savoy?

ScottnZelda Oct 12, 2013 10:06 AM

We'll be in Paris later this month and have obtained reservations for lunch on the same day for Le Cinq and Guy Savoy, one of which we must now cancel. The Guy Savoy reservation is for the 'Autumnal lunch' with wine pairings. Le Cinq would be the fixed price multi course lunch.

Decision time is at hand. Which one would you pick if you'd previously been to neither? Thanks in advance for your votes!

Since I take your nom de guerre seriously, I'd say hands down Le Cinq. The setting is très Fitzgeraldien. Don't forget to dive in fountain afterwards.

Parigi, the operative words in my earlier post were, "previously been to neither." No pretense here, despite nom de guerre.
Oh, and may I tell them you said it was okay to dive in fountain? But if it's to be Le Cinq, multi strands of pearls it would be, although I doubt hubby would wear a pink suit.

I agree Le Cinq for a celebration, the rooms got the wow factor. At Guy Savoy it's all about what's on the plate (and I think the cooking is a but better) at Le Cinq it's more about the atmosphere of the room.

My one word of caution with Le Cinq is to choose carefully from my last meal I found some of the dishes inconsistent, when they are good they are great but we had a few misses, and oddly the set meal options turned out better than one of the ALC choices.

The automnal lunch at Savoy could be fun.
