Where: Sable Fish in MSP?

Anyone recommend the best place to buy sable fish in Mpls? Need to plan a giant bagel/cream cheese/salmon/sable brunch in a few weeks.

Best I've ever had is from Balducci's in D.C. Would love to find somewhere similar in the Twin Cities. TIA.

Just out of curiosity, are your planning on curing it, similar to a lox or a nova (sorry if I'm mis-using terms, I believe a lox is not cold smoked, and a Nova is?).

I would ask the usual suspects in town, Coastal Seafood and perhaps Whole Foods, I have had good luck in special ordering through both.

I'm assuming you're talking smoked sablefish. If not, nevermind.

Check with Kramarcyk'z or Ziach's in NE. Maybe Surdyk's, but I don't think they had it.

If you can't find it in the Twin Cities, you can order on-line.

Kiev Foods in St. Paul had it (and several other smoked fishes) when they were open. I'd try one of the other Russian delis in town -- Minsk down in Eagan or the other deli up by Coon Rapids.

I've purchased fresh sablefish at Coastal several times.
