empire szechuan?

How is it? (trying to compare to shanghai bun, szechuan cottage, hunan place).

  1. It's good, typical Chinese American food. With a sushi bar.. but nothing particularly Szechuan about it.. except the name.

After going to Han Dynasty last week, I could never go to any so called Szechuan restaurant was That Good.

Well, I didn't post about it, but I went back to Sichuan Cottage in Marlboro for lunch the following week. I knew a few items off the Chinese lunch menu, so I ordered one of those. Braised beef something or other. I also insisted they bring me the side dishes that the Asian people get.. and out came the noodles and sauce. I said, no, I want the other ones. So I got sweet pickled veggies (excellent) and spicy pickled veggies (even better). The braised beef was, I'd have to say, one of the BEST dishes I've ever eaten in an Asian restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't agree with me.. must have had flour in it, to thicken it.. gluten does not agree with me in the least, and I try to avoid it whenever possible. Sad, because it was a really great dish.. and my 9 month old gobbled it up as well!

Had egg drop soup with it.. which was very yellow (lots of food coloring I presume), but also very bland. Still, I'd like to explore more of the Chinese dishes at some point.

You might try telling them you loved the braised beef and spicy pickled veggies. You can add that you are allergic to flour and can they make your food with corn starch only no flour. Do you have Celiac's Marlboro Man? At one point I thought I had it, many many years ago when it was unheard of and found lots of good websites ( forgot them sorry) which offered lots of info.
Glad you enjoyed your meal this time!
