Pasta near Empire Hotel for pre-marathon dinner

  • 3

Hi everyone,
I'm coming from Brisbane, Australia, to New York to run the NY marathon on 3 November with 3 friends. We are staying at the Empire hotel and would love a recommendation of a nice restaurant near there to have an early pasta dinner. Something mid-range as far as price and hopefully at least a few nice vegetarian options as two of our group don't eat meat.

We would also love a recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner the night of the marathon - again hopefully close to the Empire, somewhere fun where we can have a few drinks and something delicious and evil to eat to celebrate finishing the run.

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Kate

  1. Il Melograno is about a 10 minute walk. Good cheap pastas
For your marathon dinner you can consider Taboon, Boulud Sud, Lincoln

    1. The Empire Hotel is across the street from Lincoln Center so you have picked a lovely area for your stay in NY. I recommend Cafe Fiorello on Broadway around the corner from your hotel for pasta and vegetarian choices. The Lincoln Ristorante on the Lincoln Center Plaza or Bar Boulud next to Cafe Fiorello would be good Sunday choices. You can check out their menus online on menu pages. There are also some mediocre restaurants next to or part of your hotel--Ed's Lobster House, Rosa Mexicano, and PJ Clarke.

      1. I would recommend Lincoln or A Voce Columbus for pasta and Boulud Sud after the marathon.
