Encinitas area, big anniversary, Monday

keena Oct 9, 2013 08:18 PM

Ok so chef night off in the Encinitas area for a big number wedding anniversary, just 2 of us. Doesn't have to be high end but should be warm and delicious and we should be able to hear each other without shouting.....

I would head to the new Morada at the newly renovated RSF Inn..
Veladora at the Rancho Valencia resort..
    Blue Ribbon or Solace.
Red Tractons Del Mar for old school.

    Happy Anniversary!

I like the Morada idea, but I have not been since the remodel. Red's is also a good idea, I would probably pick that over Ruth's or Donovan's. Blue Ribbon and Solace are fairly noisy and the same with Trattoria I Trulli. One place that does not get much love on these boards is 3rd Corner. I always had a nice meal there, but not really fancy. AR Valentine is quiet and refined

Really wanted to try Veladora but they are closed on Mondays.
Soo... think we are going a little more casual and just going to try out Solace and Moonlight.
Already have done all the ones near LJ, so we will try something different and let you know how it was. I like the menu and enjoyed the US in NP.

I'd book a table at Donovan's in LJ 'Lover's Lane' section. High curved booths so you can sit next to each other rather than across from each other, very private, easily able to talk and commune as it's very peaceful. Order a bottle of champagne a few nice apps and dessert. Plus, you'll never be rushed out. Happy Anniversary!

BC, it's all about the peace, serenity and ability to communicate without using a megaphone, nothing to do with your age!

Giving you a hard time sledge..
Its been awhile since we've been..I'm a booth chick, so the lovers lane section sounds like a perfect place to communicate and enjoy the meal and one's company.

                      Somebody's gotta bust them..LOL
DH says I've got my JD and PHD in huevo busting.

AR Valentine at The Lodge at Torrey Pines is another great spot for an anniversary dinner.

Do they have a senior discount? Oh, I'm sure you've busted DH's huevo's a few times!

For a quiet dinner, Mille Fleurs and AR Valentien are hard to beat -- although a little bit of a drive from Encinitas.

I want to 2nd Veladora at Rancho Valencia Resort, I HIGHLY recommend it as I too had my Anniversary dinner there in May and made all the more special because that is were my husband and I met some 20 years ago (as employees, we are not high rollers!). I would suggest starting off at the Pony Room for pre-dinner cocktails and some nice complimentary spiced warm mixed nuts and cheese crackers and be sure to get there prior to sunset so you can take in the lush scenery and maybe even get lucky and catch a hot air balloon drifting up through the valley. Also be sure to inform them it's your Anniversary as it may get you a comp glass of schamps. Amazing food and impeccable service. Now, with all that being said I realized as I looked at your request/entry again, you may want to check on this restaurant and all the restaurants mentioned that they are open on Mondays as a lot of upscale restaurants are not. If Veladora is one of those I'd encourage a pre-celebratory dinner on Sunday or a post one on Tuesday...the place is worth it.
