Kauai Ono (5 Course Menu)

I don't see a lot of reviews for the "farm to table" restaurant Kauai Ono (aka Kauai Ono 560) on this board. Two of the ones from the last year are referencing the truck food.

Recently they switched from being a food truck to doing set dinner menus only 2 evenings a week.

"Rustic & communal in style. An outdoor dining venue with a set menu based on weekly and seasonal availability. Five course dinner $50. BYOB"

Any reviews of the $50 5 course menu? It's only Wednesdays and Thursdays and I believe you must book online.

I see a bit of TripAdvisor chatter but I trust CHers taste way more.

  1. My wife and I had the 5 course dinner at Kauai Ono 560 on September 25 and loved it. It is, indeed, unusual. A fixed 5 course dinner is served to 32-36 persons at communal picnic tables of 8-10 persons under a large white tee-pee-like tent that is set up in a field in Hanalei. Beside the tent is a trailer where the food is prepared. Each of our courses was delicious. Here's what we had:

First Course -- Peashoots, beet, starfruit and banana chip.

Second Course -- Ulu puree and beef brisket "Chimichurri".

Third Course -- Mixed greens with ginger dressing.

Fourth Course -- Ponzu'd Walu with kale, Okinawa potato and wasabi-mac

Fifth Course -- Chocolate tarte with apple banana flambé.

Starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. BYOB

I heard about this a couple of weeks ago in Kauai and I wish we were there longer to enjoy the meal in Hanalei..
      Thanks for the heads up!

      1. We're headed to Kauai in November and are intrigued by this. Has anyone else tried it?
