Just posted on their Facebook: Hello Everyone,
We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening tomorrow at JR's Ocean Bar & Grill, located on the Seaside Heights boardwalk at 601 Ocean Terrace. We would like to thank Kevin Stewart along with the entire Stewart Family for providing us with a new location. We will be offering an extended menu that includes our famous tomato pie along with boardwalk favorites such as sausage sandwiches and fresh cut french fries. For any additional information feel free to direct message our Facebook page at any time, or to simply call us directly at 732-793-0707 (during hours of operation starting at noon) Thank you again for your patronage and we hope to see you soon.

Yes. The second location was burned to the ground last month. JR's is a block or two further north than Midway Steaks and right next to Spicy and Coin Castle.

Thanx for the info...we were just there a week before the fire..I hope all goes well there good luck to Marucas its my favorite place for pizza (tomato pie) down the shore.

    2. I stopped by JR's today to get a couple of slices of Marucas pizza for lunch. I hadn't had it since before the fire.

I ordered 2 slices because they have always been small. (They cut 8 slices out of a pie instead of 6. . . or at least they used to)

I was served 2 rather large slices. One would have been enough for my lunch but I did have half of the second one because it was so good.

When the bill came I was a bit shocked to see that they are now charging $4 per slice. Granted they are larger than they used to be but $8 for 2 pieces of pizza seems a bit much.

Still, it is Marucas and their pizza is as good as ever.

Nice looking pizza...Price seems high, but it really depends on size and ingredients used....however, to be honest, I'm disgusted with pizzerias, bakeries and bagel shops for what they charge for their products today... it's not like something gave up life for the products to be made.

An 8 yield slice pie for 32 buck gross is pretty offensive. I could get 24 ounces of dry age steak for that price or 2 pound of prime beef. for that price.

        1. re: fourunder

Not defending the price at all, but you have to remember, boardwalk rent isn't cheap......

        2. re: Njchicaa

I don't see the big deal when people are paying $5.00+ for as cup of coffee at Starbucks all day long?
or a pack of smokes for $9.00?...I had a primo hoagie last week $12.00 for a half Italian sub.etc, etc, prices are nuts all over on everything we use in our lives & there's no end in sight!. Dominick & Joe do a fantastic business on the boardwalk in Seaside....
I for one really enjoy Marucas Pizza whatever the cost, it's my goto place down the shore glad I'm close by...otherwise I got west to Delorenzos in Robbinsville for my pizza fix.

          1. re: Tapas52

I'd never pay $5 for a cup of coffee, I don't smoke, and for $12 I'd expect a full sized sub with the works.

I agree that boardwalk rent isn't cheap and my family has known the Maruca family for decades upon decades. I didn't begrudge Domenic and Joe the $8 that I was charged today. I was just surprised at how expensive slices of pizza on the boards have become.

My family was also once very well known on the boards just like the Marucas, Kohrs, Whalens, Donofrios, etc. I grew up on the boardwalk.

            1. re: Njchicaa

Funny I went last week and paid $5 dollars for a slice and while it was a big slice it wasn't worth it, I actually would have been ok with $4! New place isn't the same I liked the original oven unlike the little warmer oven they use now!

              1. re: BorgataRay

IMO Marucas is better then any other pizza on the
SS boardwalk, ...I enjoy the taste so the price is irrelevant.

                1. re: Tapas52

$10 for a couple slices of pizza whose ingredients cost 75ยข at best is absurd, and that's relevant to me...

I quit going to Sawmill when they converted it from a cool dive bar where they could roll up the garage doors so you could sit at the bar and watch the ugly people go by on the boardwalk to a combination fern bar and Guido meat market dance club.
