Ponte Vedra Beach/St. Augustine..Restaurant Recommendations?

macarthur4 Oct 9, 2013 02:14 PM

We need some great restaurant recommendations in the above area.

We moved to PVB about a year ago however mostly live in NJ. Every time we come down here we miss our NY/NJ restaurants badly. We have tried: Ruth's Chris (above average chain) , Palm Valley Fish (good food, busy restaurant), Cafe Andiammo (average food), as well as places in South PVB: Caps (not so great food), King Fish Grill (not so great food).

Any recommendations with comments would be greatly appreciated!!!

Would you be willing to go into Jacksonville? You'll have much better options there. A few that come to mind are Orsay, BB's Black Sheep, 13 Gypsies. All are either in San Marco or Riverside/Avondale. Jax has tons of great ethnic choices as well.

Thanks Karen. We prefer closer to the beaches as we live here. We will note these restaurants. How is parking in Jacksonville?

        Generally, very easy.

The Columbia is a pretty good Cuban restaurant with about 5 locations, one is in St. Augustine. I visit a couple of the Gulf locations with some regularity.

The Columbian is Spanish, not Cuban:-)

Their main site says Spanish/Cuban. They do serve mojitos!

Head up to Mayport and try Singleton's Seafood next to the ferry. Minorcan chowder is wonderful and the seafood is great. The atmosphere is out of the 50's, but they do have air conditioning.
