[Great Bargain!] Highway Robbery Lunch @ Yakiniku Gen

I mentioned this Japanese/ Korean style BBQ place some time ago.
Its lunch menu is already a bargain ranging $12 - $20 per set.

Now for limited time only, they offer a 25% - 50% discount coupon that you can use on your next visit (except the most expensive, $20 kalbi/ harami lunch set, which is not subject to the discount).
So once you have lunch there at regular prices, and if you visit the place alone next time, you get a 50% discount. If you bring your friends, you still get a 50% discount, while your friends get 25% off.

Lunch Combination (First photo: Regular price $12), which is not cooked at your table but in the kitchen, is only $6 with the coupon.

Kobe style kalbi & harami set (Second photo: Regular price $15), which IS cooked at your table, is only $7.50 with the coupon.

They are cheaper than food truck lunches!!!

  1. When you write "highway robbery lunch" in the post title, it sounds really bad the restaurant is committing highway robbery by doing something shifty or overcharging. The phrase has negative connotations...

I'm assuming that's not what you meant.

Yeah I know, I used that expression to get attention.
Good price and good quality but no customers.
      That place needs more business.

Yeah but it someone doesn't click through they might just lazily put it on their "avoid" list.

        1. re: kathryn

If someone is not interested enough that he/she doesn't even bother to click on it, I don't think it really matters.
One has to be interested in the story first before he/she puts any restaurant on the avoid list.

It does matter to Google. Your thread is now one of the top hits.

People may have been curious to read this posting then after all because of the title, just as I intended. I added [Great Bargain!] to the title now.

Seems to me a thread title that says a restaurant's a great deal is far more likely to get people interested than one that suggests the place is committing highway robbery. [Edited to add] Ah—just saw your revised title. That's more like it.

Yeah, I chose a little provocative expression to draw more attention at the beginning and I guess it worked obviously. ha...

      2. 'finger Meat Combo', mmmmm....and I actually like the tipping guide.

I actually calculated the tip based on their regular prices. Even so, it was a bargain!

I believe this is next to Hide Chan on 52nd b/t 2nd+3rd, closer to 2nd, sub-floor level, I think.
