Sides Hardware & Shoes, Los Olivos
It's pretty good but pricey. Nice thin fries, very crispy and not over-seasoned. . I hear lots of good things about their burgers, sort of like Sylvester's--over the top toppings, gooey sauce, but on brioche or potato bun.
I went for "dinner" and had a starter salad that was supposed to be beet/ frisee, but came out as endive (tender and very nice) it was a beautiful presentation. The dressing included balsamic and perhaps Pomegranate syrup. Delicious.
The lamb sliders from the starter list were overcooked even though I'd asked for assurance that they would be med rare. Chewy and very little flavor due to overcooking. They were about 2" across so should have only taken a minute or two. Probably over looked on the flattop. Disappointing for $12. Had a individual pear upside down cake, too much butter in topping drenched the delicate cake, although it wasn't too sweet.
Since I sat at a two-top near the end of the bar near the wait station, the kitchen sent out a tidbit of speared, blue-cheese stuffed dates, tossed in flour and fried. Creamy, sweet and flavorful but too rich.
No drink, two starters, dessert and tip =$35. Many entrees were over $20, so with wine or beer you could spend easily $50-60 per person. Service was attentive and food came quickly despite Sunday 7 pm hour.
There's a nice shady outdoor patio out back and a small sunny street-side one as well, for nice days like today.
