  1. I haven't been because it is on the total opposite side of town but I remember reading good things about it here on the board.

Ha I just did a search and found a thread that you started last year. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/817447

      1. Prices seem a bit high for Toms Rivers senior majority population Imo......unless it's something extra special.

I don't think the prices look especially high for good Italian or Italian-American food. What worries me more is the depth of the menu. How can a place that small kind of off the beaten path turn over enough of that stuff to always have fresh ingredients on hand? Do they have a huge takeout business that I don't know about?

Don't be fooled,....around here in TR everyone is looking for a senior discount or early bird special,..and certainly high prices will push away customers in the retirement circles especially with so much competition all around them that are always packed with diners like, Joey D's, Il Giardinello, Villa Amalfi, Schiannos, Cafe Italia, Luigis, Ninos Coal Fired Pizza, etc, etc,...you make a very good point about the extensive menu being fresh also, after watching some of these shows like Restaurant Impossible, I would be suspect also, but who really knows?

          1. Brooklyn Bistro is now downtown in the spot that was formerly Bistro 44. Much better location.

I would say it's been at least 9 mos. Any location can be better than the one they left. I've never been there but I pass it every-time I take my parents to their favorite Il Giardinelo's up the road a few miles.
