I am looking for Crémier deChaumes, but can't seem to find it in the Manhattan cheese stores. Any recommendations as to a store that might carry it?
Di Palo's - They had me at 5 kinds of Truffled Pecorino.
Murray's and Artisanal are my two faves.
Murray's is probably the best for French or French-style cheese.
Although in Brooklyn, these guys boast carrying Chaumes.
I can't speak for that cheese in particular, but I second Murray's and will add the Bedford Cheese Shop on Irving Place. That shop has some amazingly well-curated merchandise - lovely shop.
Bedford Cheese is a great store. Ideal, too.
Does Saxelby's still run a counter at Essex St. Market?
Yes, and there's another cheese vendor there too, so it's worth a look.
Can you tell us where you've already been? Have you asked if a store can special order some for you?
they both carry a good deal of French cheese.
Murray's the best bet probably. Also I like Ideal cheese shop.
Because this cheese is a fairly hard to find French cheese, I'd call ahead, inquire about availability first.
Murray's, Eataly and Fairway all have excellent cheese selections. Have you checked any of these places?
