We used to go to the Wurst Haus(Cambridge/Hhyannis) which is long since gone, does anyone
know of a German restaurant Boston/ South. Thankyou.

  1. In Union Square, Somerville, try Bronwyn. In Boston Proper, try Jacob Wirth

I'll second Jacob Wirth, an old place (1868) with good atmosphere and good beers, a block from the Boylston T stop. Some think the food could be better but all the basics are available.

    2. Sorry but Jacob Wirth's food is terrible , IMO. Sort of a fun beer joint though.

      1. Well Sandrine's is Alsatian, so pretty close--and it's in Harvard Square.

        1. I would go Bronwyn, the food is great as well as the service. I don't know about Jacob Wirth, the last couple times I have been there the service has been terrible, the German food not great, and the non German food has been inedible.

          1. Karl's Sausage Kitchen in Peabody is an excellent German butcher and grocer that has a little cafe. Very nice traditional German food and beer.

Bronwyn is terrific, but a more modern, less traditional take on German, Austrian, Czech, Polish, and Alpine Italian fare. Great beer, wine and cocktails. Not cheap.

Jacob Wirth is a cool old tavern, but I think the German food is wretched there.
