First time to Brooklyn...need restaurant options.

Dave1220 Oct 7, 2013 06:32 AM

Hi there...

My wife and I are heading to Wythe Hotel next Saturday for an event and need some restaurant suggestions in that area. How is this area? We’ll be taking the L train over…is this a decent neighborhood? All cuisines welcome…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I have ever been to Brooklyn!

Depending on how you define "decent" it is certainly a safe area filled with things many people find enjoyable. You will be at the epicenter of prime williamsburg, the most brooklyn part of brooklyn (unless you ask a native brooklynite).

If you search the board for williamsburg you will get many hits, as the area is much discussed. If you wont narrow your request by cuisine you could help us out by naming your max price (and whether that price includes tax/tip/drinking).

I think I would call it the hip-i-center

thx! We're looking for something casual but refined. nothing that falls into the "cheap eats" category. Somewhere with a nice bar for a few drinks and then dinner. Price not an issue.

Check out Reynard, the restaurant at the Wythe (reservations needed). I love it, although I haven't been in about 6 months. On the walk from the L over to Wythe, stop at Hotel Delmano for a cocktail and a great raw bar.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek when i wrote that. it IS the most brooklyn part of brooklyn if you think brookly means: wearing plaid, not shaving, dressing/acting like you are 19, riding bikes without gears, pop-up culture, hash-tagging, or anything else brooklyn has become synonymous with in the last 5-10 years.

              Hah! I figured that!
At a recent event in Billyburgh (NY Motorcycle Film festival) I was working the crowd wearing my Brooklyn Nets cap and T-shoit!!
Where you from? Buffalo, Omaha, Columbus, Balmer, Little Rock....................

Brooklyn Bowl would be a fun night and it's right around the corner.

You could walk down to Isa as well. It's a quirky place.

Despite my two somewhat irreverent replies I do want to be helpful. To that end ill totally second Vesuvius' recommendation of Allswell.

So we did Allswell and it was very good. Thank you for the suggestion!
