ATTN: Stewart - Family you met in College Station
It was a pleasure meeting you and your family at Thomas park on 19th of December. I hope your visit to Rockfish was tasty. I really enjoy their fish tacos.
I have included the link I mentioned, Aggieland Menus, for your help. There was another review website, but all the Googling doesn't help find it...
As for favorites, here are some I would like to share:
Chicken fried steak - Longhorn Tavern @ Texas and HW 21
Hamburger - Koppe Bridge bar on Welborn road, just south of 2818. Fitzwilly's and Chicken Oil are pretty good, too.
Gourmet - Christopher's World Grill http://www.christophersworldgrille.com/
Really the only "gourmet" place in town. $$$
Fish Tacos - Rockfish grill, although La Bodega in Northgate is OK. A co-worker loves Rockfish's Caesar salad with grilled salmon.
Steak - I have heard good things about Sodolack's beefmasters on 3500 HWY 21 East, Bryan. They have another place in Snook, Tx, called Sodolack's Country Inn. Locals seem to love it. For chains, Texas Roadhouse beats Outback hands down for sirloin.
Cafe Excel in Northgate was good the last time I ate there for upscale American food. Somewhat pricy, but good service. If I remember, they had a large wine list, too.
Cafe Capri is Italian in downtown Bryan that is pretty good.
Thai Taste is tasty, albeit small and expensive portions. Nipa Hot is the Thai place I was telling you about. Slow and spotty service, but the food is good.
Pizza - Mr. G's in Downtown Bryan. Made using a bakers oven, not on a conveyor.
Cheap beer - Dudley's Draw, Northgate. Good roast beef sandwiches, too.
We have all the chain restaurants you can think of in this town. No real good "foodie" places. And I didn't list any places with good light fare.
For Mexican, there is a Ninfa's, but it doesn't hold a candle to Mama Nifa's on Navigation (in Houston). Gina's in Downtown Bryan was pretty good last two times I was there.

Seems to echo my thoughts.
Hey, it was very nice meeting you guys too! I haven't been active on chowhound recently, but talking to you in the park motivated me to check the board...
Rockfish was PERFECT! The food was great and for seafood, the prices were INCREDIBLE!!! I liked the bucket of peanuts, nice touch! I generally don't like chains, but this one seems a cut above. I hope they can keep it up.
Thanks for the links and suggestions... Maybe I'll see you guys around up there! Let me know if you come down to H-town, and I'll hook you guys up with some great recommendations!
