2013 Armenian food festival in Oakland Oct. 4-5

Robert Lauriston Oct 4, 2013 11:03 AM

St. Vartan's annual festival is here again, one of the few chances to get Armenian food around here. 5:30-midnight today, noon-midnight Saturday, largest selection of food before 8:00. Don't miss the koofta.

Thanks for the pointer. It reminded me to check the Serbian Orthodox church in Moraga, which also has a food festival this time of year, and it's next week. They are promising a BBQ ox! http://www.holytrinitymoraga.org/img/...

The eggplant dish is also great.

Are there similar koofta / kufta / kufteh anywhere around here except at church festivals? These are flat disks, maybe 3" round and 1" thick, meat and bulghur crust with a meat filling, simmered or steamed.
