New low carb menu at Panera

Panera is now offering a "secret" power menu featuring salad entrees with carb counts listed. I've had two of these. I didn't care for the one with hummus. ( I make better hummus.) But the one that has roasted turkey is really low carb and not bad. Instead of salad dressing you get a lemon and a packet of olive oil. Which is far better than the glop you usually get with a salad.

i would consider the roasted turkey salad complete with a whole grain baguette. Perhaps 1/2 of a baguette. But even with a baguette, the carb count is way lower than a normal meal eaten almost anywhere. And the roasted turkey isn't bad at all.

      Thanks for sharing!

Does anyone else find it annoying that they don't advertise these items??

Since the company IS named "panera bread" it may just be fear of alienating the current customers with new potentially temporary products.
Kind of like how burger king never promoted or advertised their short lived veggie burger...

what's low-carb about hummus or baguettes?

True that re hummus/bread. But some of the items here in the "hidden" menu look tasty. Will eventually try a couple.

ah, thanks for the link. :)

got all wadded up on another thread where folks were recommending lentils and potatoes in low-carb meatloaf and worried this was more of that.

            dishes look pretty good.

Great idea -- but I wonder why they want to keep it a secret. Had I not seen this I would never contemplate lunch at Panera.

Which is why I posted it. I've seen this menu in CO and in WA.

And oatmeal, because you NEED carbs to be healthy. :-)

The meals appear to be very low to moderate carb and the baguette is not mandatory. :-) Just sent it to DH as a new lunch option on work days. Thanks, sueatmo.

You would order the baguette extra if you wanted to. I agree that the hummus is not low carb, and frankly it isn't that great. But carb counts along with the protein counts, are listed on the sign in the store, and they are pretty low.
