Interesting IPA: Deschutes Fresh Squeezed w/ Mosaic Hops

So it seems like alot of new beers are hitting the cooler these days. I come across this new one Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA...

Wins an award for clever label right off the bat...

Anyway, ratebeer has it at 99% for the style, which is real strong so why not try a bottle...

This is interesting beer. It's on the dry side but not bitter. GREAT aroma and while no distinct sweetish notes are there, there's a semi-sweet carmelly flavor that really evolves. It's just one of those intriguing complex beers that's nearly worth buying for the aroma alone...

I note reading the label that this beer is concocted with emphasis on Mosaic and Citra hops, interesting in itself, Mosaic seems to be a very newly-popular hops variety. I've never gotten so deep into IPAs to start distinguishing them by hops, but this has me thinking I probably should. Here's an interesting link to the "hot new hops for 2013", which includes a blurb on mosaic:

Noted that this wasn't tasted blind, nor was it tasted alongside any benchmark beer for comparison. But I'm definitely going to work it into my next IPA blind tasting rotation.

I am concerned that the dryness may not shine against a balanced monster like dreadnaught or hercules, but in the drier-side category this is great stuff.
