New Wayland Restaurants

I was driving down Rt 20 the other day and noticed that the new Stop and Shop and about half of the stores in the surrounding mall are open, including two new restaurants (well, three if you count Bertucci's), one called Local Kitchen (I think) and a Japanese place (forget the name). Has anyone been? Local Kitchen looked popular for lunch.

  1. Sadly, I can comment on the Bertucci's...The pizza we ate there last month convinced me that this is the LAST time I give Bertucci's a chance...I was lulled into submission by several surprisingly good Caesar salads and pies at the one in Natick...This one had chopped iceberg right out of the bag, with bottled dressing, and a pizza that was barely cooked...Just yuck all around...

Takara, OTOH, is well on it's way to becoming our regular joint for sushi...We can't afford Oga's and Oishii,Too every week...Takara is the basic, traditional, Japanese aesthetic, tho Korean owned. Meaning there is reasonably priced sushi, and Korean food...Yippee! Service is nice, too..

Sadly, have to agree on the Bertucci's. We were surprised by how weak their pizza was, twice.

    2. That was it, Takara. Great news, so glad to hear it is good! I am looking forward to trying it. I had a thoroughly depressing string of restaurant experiences around here last weekend and was hoping for the best when I saw these new places.

Yeah, the local options aren't all that, are they? Still, lots of good Indian options!

Paani on Rt 20 in Sudbury gets my vote, about 10 minutes west of Wayland center. Only about ten tables, best to call ahead for reservation.

Thanks to both of you for the recs!

Haven't been to Paani yet...Our regular is Minerva, on Rt. 9 in that Christmas Tree Shop Plaza... I used to adore Pongal II, and haven't been to Soul of India yet...
Saffron Grill is in the line-up to mix things up; I really like it...TC thinks it's too spicy, so we really can't use him as a barometer!

        1. The Local is by the same people who own the Local in Newton. Haven't been yet, though.

Yes, you're right about the Indian options, thankfully. Thanks for the tip on The Local, Duster, I'm going to check it out online.
