Fish and salad in Honolulu

Greetings. I have several "upscale" dinner reservations, but what I don't seem to have, is somewhere that offers something more simple such as a wonderful salad and piece of fish. Mahalo!

I'm assuming for Plumeria he means Plumeria Beach House at the Kahala.

Olive Tree has Fresh Fish of the Day Plate which is done with a nice Green Salad.

Stage Restaurant has a few types of fresh fish available also.

The Shorebird at the Outrigger Reef is a casual cook your own steak/fish w a wonderful salad bar. Wasn't sure if your request was only for upscale or you wanted a variety. It's a great place to mingle around the pit w friends while your dinner cooks. A very good value too btw.

Almost every decent or better restaurant in Honolulu does a very credible job with fish (even zippy's fresh catch of the day.) But in the main, stay away from mainland chains. Finding a good salad is more of a problem. I've had very good fish and salad at places as diverse as big city diner, assagio, aiea bowl, nico's, and ryan's.

Zippy's! No joke. Most Zippy's have a daily fresh fish special, available in both the fast-food and sit-down-restaurant parts of the restaurants. Salmon seems to be on the menu every day. Local catch items appear according to availability. Typical meal cost about $10.

and if you ask for "all tossed" you don't have to get rice or mac salad. You aren't going to be able to order it 'rare' or 'blackened' but it will be cooked nicely, and a reasonable sized serving.

Dontcha always hear "toss"? the 'ed' often gets lost! Yes, I vote for Nico's for a great piece that they will grill and a nice salad letting the ingredients speak for themselves.

yep, and if you want to be sure you are clear - all toss no rice. just to add emphasis you really want all greens no carbs.
