New Milford - Litchfield area?

  • 2

My parents will be visiting me this Sunday and we are driving up to New Milford to check out the Elephant Trunk Flea Market, Kent Falls and the covered bridge, and touring the whole area for the day. My father also wants to visit Lime Rock Park.

Can anyone recommend a lunch in these areas - New Milf (lol), Kent or Lime Rock area? Or just eat all the fried food at the fleamarket? Has anyone eaten there?

Then also a nice dinner in Litchfield on the town green other than West End Grill or a place off rte. 202?

Thanks!

  1. We live about 10 minutes from the Elephant's Trunk and go many Sunday mornings - me to walk around and look at other people's "treasures" and my SO to get funnel cake for breakfast! There are several food truck-y type establishments there with mini donuts, fried chicken, hot dogs, etc., but the STANDOUT is the Good Luck Food Truck, which sells tasty Korean tacos and rice bowls made with chicken, beef, or tofu. They also have tasty scallion pancakes! Otherwise, New Milford has (IMHO) slim pickins (59 Bank is ok, I guess, and there are a couple of other just ok places, too), but if you like Latin cuisine, check out Primo's Deli. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall-looking storefront kind of place next to a laundromat, but the food is outstanding and inexpensive. If you're looking for slightly nicer/more ambiance, I'd go up to Kent. There are some decent places, including the Fife 'n Drum, Bulls Bridge Inn and The Villager, but none of these have ever really bowled me over. I do like the Great American Pie Company over in Sherman, but that might be a little out of your way... Oh, there's also Gary's Rib House very near the flea market - I liked the food there when we tried it, but I haven't been in at least a year, so I don't know if it's still good. Oh! I just remembered the White Horse Tavern is up that way, and is very good and has a nice atmosphere - especially on a nice day, if you can sit out back on the patio. Wherever you go, have fun and enjoy the day!

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure about eating at the flea market or to go somewhere for a casual sit down place. i did read that fried chicken is sold there and my father will probably want a funnel cake! The Korean food truck sounds awesome and thanks for the White Horse Tavern suggestion. I'll have to map the pie company, esp. If its off Rt. 7! I'm very excited to go!!
