Looking for "Nutrageous" snack size candy bars in NoVa….

alkapal Sep 25, 2013 04:50 AM

I'm scouring grocery store shelves and their bounty of Halloween candy. So far, I have not seen Nutrageous.

Please help!

Amazon has several vendors selling boxes of 1.8 oz bars.

thanks, but i was hoping to find them locally.

i simply don't understand why the best candy bar just can't be found in stores! the fun size is the best ratio of chocolate coating to filling, and even the larger size bar is a rarity.

Just curious as to why it matters where you buy them? I am so tired of searching for certain products at Whole Foods (or worse - the reliably unreliable Rodman's, where searching for a specific product is like a treasure hunt). So I do online all the time, and Amazon has free/fast shipping. So much better than running around in our insane traffic, wasting gas, time, patience.

I've had Tim Tams that were purchased from an online vendor (I didn't buy them.) They were stale and somewhat rancid. I'm really happy that Campbell's bought Arnott's and now imports Tim Tams in winter under the Pepperidge Farm brand.

Leaving aside the very important question of whether a candy bar with whole nuts in it can be legitmately described as "the best" I've found Target to have the best selection of small candy bars, though I haven't been there in a long time since I generally try to avoid candy temptation.

target was one of the first places i checked, but that was about a month ago, when they were getting in their first tranche of halloween candy.

Nutrageous is hard to find in it's full-size version. I usually buy them on eBay. I doubt they even make a fun-size or miniature version.

they used to make a fun size version, and i could get it only at halloween. but, you are right, now it is hard even to find a full size one -- and then that ratio of chocolate-to-filling just isn't quite right. ;-).

Yes they make a small version and if I see it, it's the first thing I'd buy. Wonder if the company can tell you the distributor, and the distributor can tell you who buys it. I'm also wondering if it's just that they're so popular, they disappear as soon as they're on the shelf?

Alkapal, you are nothing if not dependable. I think you post this same thing every year, causing me to be reminded just in time for Halloween shopping that all other candy bars are really just second best.

Just looked up Hershey website, maybe they really are discontinued? We need to start a write in campaign for next year!

coll -- bless you! you reminded me that i should check their site, and there i found a product locator that listed 1.92 oz. nutrageous! http://www.thehersheycompany.com/cont...

i see they ID safeway as having them, so that is my first errand manana! i notice that my closest safeway, however, is not listed, so apparently not all safeways are carrying them. no other stores than safeway were listed within a 20 mile radius.

Wow that's amazing! My local Waldbaums doesn't have it, but the one a few towns over does. I pass them often enough, and since as usual you got me all psyched, I will be making a stop very soon, and stocking up. Yay!

it has always amazed me that these aren't the number one candy bar! it is like a better snickers combined with a reese's PB cup. i'm glad you found them, and i thank you for helping me to locate the "locater"!

for those who don't understand my love for the candy, here it is: "REESE'S NUTRAGEOUS Candy Bar is made with chocolate and loaded with crunchy roasted peanuts, smooth rich caramel and the distinctive taste of REESE'S peanut butter."

                http://www.hersheys.com/reeses/produc...

i like peanuts in candy -- well, anywhere; i also like payday candy bars. (that reminds me…stock up now in halloween candy season, when the miniatures are available).

Chocolate with nuts just can't be beat. I almost feel like it's healthy for some reason!

Hey, chocolate is good for you, or so I hear. And we know nuts and peanut butter are too. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm thinking the 1.92 oz size is full-size. I just bought some from this eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/REESES-NUTRAG...

I'm starting to wonder how old these bars on Amazon and eBay are? Do yours have a date by any chance?

They taste fresh. i checked the box and the code was 030414, so I assume that's March of 2014.

Thanks for the info! So if they were discontinued, it must not have been very long ago. Time for a campaign!!

mister big, you are spot on about the nutrageous 1.92 oz. being the full size bar!

i am sad to say that the safeway in chesterbrook shopping center did not have them either.

          2. alkapal Oct 10, 2013 07:16 PM

not at the safeway on wilson near pupatella -- even though locator said they were supposed to be there. consoled myself with fun size paydays. ;-). oh, and also a draft and burrata platter at pupatella. LOL. (they now have a few cool drafts there).

Well at least you made lemonade out of your lemons! I'm guessing they're gone? Because the main website doesn't list them with their current products. What say we start a write in campaign and find out what the problem is!!
