Any suggestions where we can watch the World Series in October that has great food? Pubs would be best, but we are open to other ideas.

  1. Portland is terrible for sports watching in bars that are not sports bars. The Eastbank Saloon has better than normal grub and will certainly have the WS on. The New Old Lompoc will as well, especially if the Sox are in it.

    1. I'd do that at Sunshine Tavern before I'd go to a sports bar.

Sunshine Tavern isn't exactly a place to go watch the WS what with kids tearing around and video games going. Do they even play sports and if so do they ever have the sound on? I'm thinking no.

There is always sports on the screen at Sunshine, sometimes the sound is on, sometimes not.

Just saying that it is far from ideal environment solely for the purpose of watching a baseball game. If you have kids and want to take them to a restaurant where there are guaranteed to be other kids and the you can set the parental controls on autopilot and watch a baseball game then it is probably the ticket. Short of that I'm not sure this would be a non-kid laden person's first choice for WS watching.

Well, I neither watch sports events nor have children, but I just happened to notice that games are always on at Sunshine. And I like their food and drink a lot.

Maybe you can find a good place using the Barfly site:

      2. They used to play baseball on the TV in the bar at Higgins all the time, but I haven't been in a while. OJ, do they still have the TV up there?

Higgins installed an actual flat screen earlier this year and moved to where people sitting at the bar can see it. They don't p,ay sound ever so it that is important to the OP then this would not work however if they just want to see the game, not listen to McCarver's dreadful "analysis" and have great food this is a good idea.

Thanks - good to keep in mind when J needs to see a game and I need to go out! :-)

        2. I had friends post last night that they enjoyed Monday Night Football at Raven and Rose. Not sure if the sound was on or not, but lots of folks like that place for food and drinks.
