Disclaimer: I am NOT a baker, I am a cooker!
I have some really nice fresh pineapple and like the idea of pineapple foster and need to bring a snack to work. I was thinking of making a sheet pan (lots of people there). I was looking at this recipe. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/20...
Can I do some pineapple in a pan foster style with rum, butter, brown sugar and then pour and arrange it in a sheet pan and use boxed cake mix and spread it on top?

plenty of recipes out there for pineapple upside-down cake, and yes, it can be made with boxed mix.

you can add a bit of rum to the batter, but you won't need much.

this is a from-scratch cake that is dead easy:

"foster" really has more to do with flaming the rum and involves ice cream.
