Does anybody know where i can get a decent butter tart in East York? I have found the ones I've tried to be terribly disappointing.
Not exactly sure if it's east york, but Andrea's Gerrard St Bakery.
Chef Robert at Catered Affare..He sells them at flea markets.Best i have ever tried, his scones and brownies are the equal
Do you know somewhere specifically that he sells them?
Celenas bakery at Woodbine and Danfoth. But they are the runny kind.
Pape & Gowan is definitely East York. I am not far from there. I'll try Hansen's out.
I read good things about Beverley's as well but I have read online that they are now closed. Is that not the case?
oh shoot, I didn't know that! I haven't been by that way for a while.
They are closed. That's where Mon k is now.
While you are at Hansen's swing by Folia Grill (about a block north) and give it a try if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed!
I have not tried it. I will check it out. Lunch and dessert!
Beverley's Cafe, Coxwell Av. on the strip between O'Connor and Cosburn, is reputed to have great butter tarts.
Beverley's Cafe doesn't exist anymore. Not sure what happened as I am new to the area.
It has been replaced by Mon K.http://monkpatisserie.com/contact/
Try Hansen's Danish Pastry Shop, on Pape near Gowan (I think that's East York). They have 2 varieties. You want the one NOT in a foil cup, I think it's called either traditional or old fashioned.
