Looking for a recommendation [San Francisco]

We have been away for 18 months...looking for a good restaurant to go to w our friends who used to live in the city. Emphasis on really good food, hip/chic, not hipster crowd. We love delfina, beretta, Starbelly, flour & water. Looking for a new comer that we haven't been to, or hear of as we were away. Something that might accommodate us on a Saturday night w out reservations! Thanks!!

Skool? Though the seats that are usually free are outside which can get chilly in SF.

If you haven't been to Cotogna or Locanda, those are also good options.

Fair. I guess it depends if you are willing to sit at the bar. Haven't had too much trouble as long as it's not right at peak time e.g. 7:30-8;00 pm.

St. Vincent, at least if you go earlier in the evening.

I'd say AQ or Bar Tartine, but not without a reservation.
