Planning our anual jaunt to BDA to celebrate another anniversary. Big one this year...25!!! Looking for a special place to celebrate. Went to John Moore's Tavern for year 20 and it was wonderful. Anniversry falls on a Friday the week before Xmas so want to make reservation early. Busy time. What do you got?

I made a reservation at Ascots. They were lovely over email correspondance. Where else should we eat for casual chow. Any new places we should try?. Can' wait!

Did you get to try Tribe Road Kitchen when you here last? Corner of King Street and Reid Street in Hamilton?

In Dockyard, there is the pastry shop that does sandwiches, it's closer to BoneFish, in a little courtyard, next door to the crew sleeping quarters. I love their quiche and you can get a nice loaf of bread from them for your breakfasts.

In town, on Court Street, upstairs from Chewstick (not sure what the cross street is), there's a chicken and waffle joint that I haven't gotten around to trying yet.

By Elbow Beach hotel, near the residents area, there is a little place called Thyme that opened recently, again, I haven't made it there yet.

Southampton Princess has the Gastropub which replaced the Newport Room. I'm a big fan of the burger and steak tartare. Open for dinner only I believe. Not sure if they'll switch to winter hours as well come December.

Otherwise, more upscale is Red Steakhouse in town. The usual, steakhouse fare. I prefer their lunch to their dinner, steak salad was very nice.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

And of course, congratulations on 25 years. Wishing you both all the best for another 25!

I think we're staying on a boathouse in Dockyard like we did last year. Loved it. We've celebrated our anniversary in bda for at least the last 10 years. Cant wait!

Ah OK! You'll be close to Cambridge Beaches then, which is so pretty and romantic. Or Waterlot Inn or Fourways Inn would be lovely.

And seeing as you're way out in Dockyard (we have a distorted sense of distance here!) and love where you'll be staying another possibility is arranging a special meal to be collected from Miles Market - their website has options or I'm sure you can ask for whatever you like - you can pick up and take back - no having to deal with getting to and from a restaurant.

As ever, if there's anything I can do - let me know :-)

What do you mean about arranging a meal from Miles mkt? Do they cook somethng up for you or do you mean shop for the ingredients and cook something?

Take a look at their website - there are options of menus or you can work with their chefs for a special menu.

We had a great time last week. The weather was BEAUTIFUL!!.Grabbed lunch at the pastry bistro in Dockyard the day we arrived and it was delicious. Nice folks too. Other than that we cooked and ate on board our house boat until anniversary night at Ascots. We loved it. The whole package. We hardly ever order dessert so they brought us a one compliments of the house .
            I love Bermuda. :)

Awww, you just made my Christmas Eve! I've been wondering how your stay was - glad you had such a wonderful time - and I love Ascot's too.

I finally got to Mad Hatters - for lunch - OMG it was good! Delicious risotto and a salad. Really wish it was open on Saturdays for lunch, ditto Ascot's.

              Have a lovely holiday!

Glad to hear that everything was wonderful. Ascot's has always known how to treat its customers and glad you enjoyed the pastry shop.

Congratulations! Can't believe how this year has just flown by! How many times have you come to Bda for your anniversary/

I would suggest The Reefs, it's lovely and romantic, but Coconuts down by the beach will be closed in December - still worth considering though.

Ascot's will be pretty and cosy in December.

Will have a think about other possibilities.
