looking for a great, casual, non-meat-heavy meal in Cambridge

asl3y Sep 18, 2013 11:41 AM

I'll be meeting a friend in Cambridge for dinner later this month (neither of us is from the area) and am looking for a casual place with wonderful food and drink where we can linger and chat. She eats fish but no other meat. Suggestions?

Rendezvous in Central Square. Casual. Wonderful food and drink. Low volumes and low pressure to give up your table make it a wonderful place to linger and chat. Numerous non-meat options on the menu.

And if you go on a Monday you can do tapas at the bar. Their bar is a nice one to eat and linger at.

Always happy to second Rendezvous! It is one of the few places where I order salads.

Amelia's! Great Italian food, wonderful ambiance. Or Emma's if you like pizza.

Cambridge is a pretty big (geographically) place. Any particular neighborhood you'll want to stick to? Also, what night of the week?

Central Square, Thursday night, probably around 6:30. My friend will be coming via commuter rail from RI.

Then I'd agree with the Renedzvous recs.

I love the tapas at Rendezvous on Monday (that's only at the bar) and also would recommend Oleana in Cambridge....the garden seating (first come, can't be reserved) is a really magical place and the veg tasting option is amazing.
