Gott's Roadside, Palo Alto
Looks like Palo Alto Gott's Roadside should be opening soon, not sure when, but they are training their staff now. Supposedly more dinner-focused w/ a darker, cozier look.
Town & Country Village
Maybe it was opening day kinks (and the manager forewarned us as much), but it took 21 minutes from the time of order for my burger and fries to arrive (with a half-full restaurant at dinner). The burger tasted fine (although I wouldn't put it up there with amazing classic burgers), and I also suffered from the worst heartburn I've had in years escalating a good 6 hours after eating.
Tried it myself. Burger is a bit over fine by default, might try it medium rare. Burger took a long time to order and a long time to serve but the server mentioned this before we sat down. Beer and wine list is quite good, with a lot of half bottles.
Back to the burgers.
Bun is a bit heavy for my taste, but at least tasty. Patty is small.toppings were average.
I would rather be at jefferey's.
Hopes dashed on first visit. The wait was long to order. Ordering was slow because the cashier quickly switched from explaining the menu options to upselling and being "funny". She did ask a huge number of questions to specify our order -- that proved extra maddening when our order came out wrong in several ways that we had discussed with the cashier.
This is not a fussy rant...as example, my replacement burger (got a puck after ordering Very Rare) was ready when everyone else had finished lunch.
Restaurant's attitude seemed uncaring and clueless.
Positives: table clearing and cleaning by bussing staff was terrific and not responsible for delays in waiting line, ordering, or service. Why go back?
