Would you be interested in a sous vide board?

I sure would be! I think sous vide is gaining popularity, and like the early days of microwave, there are tons and tons of "recipes" out that whose sole value is that you get to crank up your water bath. And then there are some great recipes and ways to do things that really are helpful. Is anyone else interested in exploring sous vide cooking???

I see no more reason for a Home Cooking Board sous vide spin-off than I would for microwaving or steaming.

Agree with Greygarious. It seems to me an unnecessary balkanization of Home Cooking. The only reason to spin off a topic from HC onto its own board would be if there volume of posts on the topic were really frequent -- similar to how new geographic boards devoted to specific cities have been spun off from larger regional boards, or how the Special Diets and Vegetarian Boards evolved. Seems to me that the bread-baking, dessert baking, and grilling -- to name just a few common HC topics -- would be more worthy of their own boards than SV under that criteria (and, just to be clear, I don't think that any of these other topics need their own board).

I cook sous vide frequently, but I don't think there are many Hounds who do.

I've been reading about a number of suggestions for new boards and/or spin off board topics and I'd just like to put out there that a board for special topics can work.

You create a Misc. or Special Topics board. Each month you select one specific focus and however many threads are created and fall under that topic run until the month ends. Then a new topic comes up and so on. The archive becomes all those topics that had a special interest but not long enough legs to warrant a separate board designation.

Think of it as a Special Topic of the Month housed in a Special Interests/Misc. board.

At work we have a misc. board and it works really well. And, more importantly great discussions about hyper focused ideas are shared and not lost to a larger board.
