Need help from New Yorkers

Coming into town in late October. We love Apiary, but are looking for a change - something with high quality food but not silly expensive is what we're looking for. Any suggestions (including suggested threads) welcome (and happy to return the favour if you're ever in Toronto)!

What is "not silly expensive" to you?

In other words, can you name a per person budget, before tax, tip, wine/drinks? $50pp for food only? $75 for food only?

What cuisines are you interested in? Only New American?

Betony and Juni are getting a lot of buzz right now.

I recently had an excellent meal at the Tap Room at Colicchio & Sons.

Here is a very recent thread for a "first NYC trip" that may help you:

Good point. Apologies for not being more specific.
$75pp food only is a not silly range. New American is what, in fact, we had in mind. Will check out the thread. Any other suggestions welcome.

        Thanks.
