Defrosting raspberries, white web-like floaters?

I'm defrosting a bag of mixed berries to make a quick sauce, as soon as I put the defrosted berries into the pot (before they are warm) I'm seeing all these white web-like floating things in the pot. I've made this with defrosted raspberries before (a long time ago) and I don't remember seeing this before. Is this just the berries breaking down, or is there a problem here? They aren't very pretty so I'm not certain if I should cook with them or not. Can anyone put my mind at ease?

  1. For what it's worth, the last fresh raspberries I bought had something I think like you are describing, not noticeable until I washed them.

    1. I tried another round - still a few of these floaters, but being as gentle as possible, resisting stirring, and using a very very flexible silicone spatula prevented too much breakdown of the raspberries which was causing the problem. I think the frozen mix made the raspberries break down more quickly which is why I hadn't had the problem before?

I think so. Could also be a type that is more prone to doing that. I had not seen this before either.
