Fleishig Pizza Recipe
Does any one have a good fleishig recipe for pizza. My dough is made I am looking for topping ideas.
Are you using soy cheese or no cheese at all? Why not look through the on line menus for some of the high end pizzerias and see if any of their combinations appeal to you?
I make fleishig lasagne all the time and it is terrific. A different beast than cheese but in my opinion even better. I dont see whjy fleishig pizza wouldn't work jusdt as well. Basically you just make an A list bolognese, on the dr side, add lots of chopped veggies.
Seems to me the only \caveat would be not to make it too "soupy" for the crust to hold up. perhaps just sauteed tomatoes and no tomato sauce?
My favorite flesichige pizza is a topping of meatballs, onions and mushrooms.
I make my meatball mix and shape in a long 2" diameter logs and bake in the oven. 350 30 minutes. These will keep in the freezer for 3 months.
When ready to top the sauced pizza dough, I take a defrosted log and cut 1/4" thick slices and arrange on the pie. I them place sliced mushrooms between the meatball circles and top with thinly sliced red onions. I splrinke with a litle olive oil and salt, red pepper flakes and garlic and bake in my oven. My only regret is that my outdoor brick pizza oven is milchige, so this must be either baked indoors or made on the grill (if making individual size pies, I grill).
Enjoy! When I was in college 40+ years ago I worked in a pizza place and the owner taught me to make the meat ball logs. I have used these to make hors doerves, serving slices on crackers topped with a piece of roasted pepper or caramelized onion or marinated mushroom. Always a hit with kids or adults.
A second fleischige pizza idea is thinly sliced grilled chicken breasted and red onion spread over a dough coated with a pareve creamy Italian or garlic salad dressing and then baked. Best on a thin crust.
If you have access to Daiya cheese (vegan,OU, pareve, nut-based, melts), you could try using that in any treif pizza recipe that you may find.
Thin slices of salami or corned beef. Dress up appropriately.
The trick is as much in the crust as the toppings.
Kimmel is great with corned beef.
You can even do salami, eggs and onions on a pizza crust!
