Pears

My daughter in law gave me 10 ripe pears. Any suggestions on what to do with them?

  1. this cake is fabulous. Every time I serve it the room goes silent, and then you hear people just sign. I serve it with lightly whipped cream. Enjoy!

    1. Apple pear crisp. Try Ina's recipe.

      1. Pear sauce. Use any apple sauce recipe. If already ripe, do something soon before they brown.

        My personal favorite is to core from the bottom to remove all pith and seeds, poach in ginger ale in a slow over for about an hour and chill. Meanwhile, toast some chopped walnuts and blend with sweet (important!) Gorgonzola. Pipe the Gorgonzola into the hollowed, chilled pears and serve pears upright with a dollop of whipped cream.

          1. Pears are very closely related to apples. Anything that calls for apples, you can make with pears. Google Jacques Pepin's Braised Pears with Caramel Sauce. Pear, sugar, and cream are the only ingredients. It's easy and way more than the sum of its parts.
