Second Cafe d'Alsace, but would also suggest Spigolo for Italian and B Cafe if you like mussels/belgian.

Uva is a good option. I went last Sat on the earlier side (got there around 4) and they were more than happy to let us linger for a few hours. We had a few rounds of drinks and a couple snacks. They were in no rush at all to get us out. In fact, the waitress was one of the nicest I've ever encountered!

Kaia Winebar is my fallback for a good meal with wine and conversation. Admittedly it's South African, so it might not be quite what you're looking for in terms of cuisine. In that case, I'd check out Cafe d'Alsace, Uva or JBird.

I love Kaia, but how would you have conversation there? I find the noise level impossible, even when it is not full.

It's not bad before 8pm. I usually leave before it gets too crowded.
