Birmingham is mentioned in the current Eater National. They are finally recognizing our amazing restaurants.

Although Saw's Juke Joint is theoretically associated with Taylor Hicks, I think it is successful whereas Ore definitely was not.

I really like Carrigan's and Johnny's although have only been to Carrigan's once so far. Asian Rim is pretty good although on a recent visit the shrimp boat was a miss with 5 pieces of essentially bang, bang shrimp.

The Pantry is kind of spendy and bland but I like the idea.

Have not yet been to Vittoria or Bistro 218 yet due to price concerns.

Need to hit up Lulu's and Steel Drum.

Dax, I read that too. I'm so disappointed that I didn't get a chance to try the place.

Isn't that near you? Did you drive by to verify they were closed? I see the website is down.

What??!! We loved the place! Short of ordering online from Portillo's in Chicago or making at home (I did, and it just wasn't the same), Lulu's was the only place in town to get a proper Italian beef sandwich. For that matter, the only place to get one period. Bummed. Gotta go break the news to my wife and daughters...
