A Chefs Life with Vivian Howard begins on WUNC!

Sorry for basically no notice (behind in reading my e-mails) but this series begins tonight at 9:30 (9/12). She & her husband Ben have The Chef & The Farmer in Kinston. Should be good!

I was trying to figure out the timeline in the show as the first episode seemed to be in the present but it ended with the fire that destroyed the kitchen. Wasn't that fire several years ago?

It was in late 2011 I believe, and they reopened around March of 2012. I ate there not too long after they reopened (sooooooo good.) The restaurant shown in the first episode looks slightly different to me up front, so they may have been taping in 2011, but I could be wrong.

The first episode was great! Similar to Mind of a Chef, but I really enjoy her readaptation of Southern food. It should be a pretty great series, looking forward to the next episode already.

The fire was in January, 2012 and they reopened in May or June of the same year.

I so wanted to watch yesterday and forgot about it. I understand UNC-TV is not going to have additional showings.

OK update for those like me who missed it South Carolina Public TV has put it on line

What? WUNC are the call letters of both the flagship NPR radio station for the Triangle, as well as the state's public television network.

The web sites distinguish each other by WUNC.Org being rabio and UNCTV.org being PBS.

Thanks for clarifying. I guess I have the radio on more often than the TV!

I was posting quickly to try to alert anyone (like me) who may have forgotten the premier time/date.

Luckily 'hounds are a bright and resourceful bunch who can figure things out!

Edit: I tried to use call letters rather than just PBS to to indicate the broadcast region. So glad there is another chance to catch it on line.

They are already filming season 2. This is a by product of a kickstarter campaign (partly).

Maybe WUNK was what it was back in East NC.. Oh well. As we Jews say.. ish kabibble.

Regardless, I went before the fire as they were just getting the space ready for the wine shop area of the restaurant. It was great but not extraordinary except for that region of the state. I was happy that my hometown finally had something that it could call an actual reason to go out for a meal instead of King's.
