Maison Giraud

Driving to Malibu a few times this month and remembered hearing about this lovely place on CH but had never tried it. I usually fly through the Palisades on Sunset and once in awhile I'll stop by Gelson's.
Yesterday, I parked in front of Maison Giraud, walked in and quietly ordered their beloved chocolate croissant, that so many have talked about on these threads.
It's become a rarity for me to eat something, anything, and feel so satisfied with it that no matter how many calories or how much butter they use or whatever decadence they've decided to incorporate, I'll not care and continue to come back for more.
It's that good. It's been a long time since I've had a croissant that fabulous.
I also decided to order the poached eggs. They're perfectly poached with a side of some of the best toasted baguette I've had in years. Maison Giraud takes it all to another level.

  1. If you're ever in Atwater Village, do try Proof Bakery's croissants. I think Maison Giraud's better, but Proof is awfully good....

      I adore Proof....everything about it. I've been addicted to their chocolate croissants for a long time.

      I'm actually shocked the croissants at Maison Giraud are a little better because Proof's are stellar.

        I think Maison Giraud's plain croissant was better than the almond at Proof. I think the almond at Proof is as good as the better plain ones I've had at Amandine.

        Can't recall enough about the pain au chocolat at MG's to make a comparison (but thought it was outstanding at Proof). Would definitely go back to try more if I lived closer....

          Let me know when..... They don't have martinis, but they do have one of my favorite wines by the glass.... ;0)

            All I can say is...

            I indulged in the Pain au Chocolat, an Apricot Danish and what they refer to as Pecan Brown Sugar muffin along with the breakfast I ate.
            I gained a pound overnight but was it ever worth it :). That chocolate croissant is crispy on the outside and just plain fabulous on the inside...layers and layers of buttery goodness.

            Get yourself there!

              I will try though I'm never in the area.

              My favorite currently is the chocolate croissants at tarte tatin.

            1. I absolutely love their pastries but was unimpressed by their dine-in breakfast dishes the one time we've been. It's been so long I can't remember the criticism but we continue picking up pastries from there when we go to the Palisades farmers market.
