equal_Mark Sep 12, 2013 02:19 PM

Maruca's, 3 Brothers, Kohr's destroyed so far. Strong south winds blowing fire north from Funtown Pier.

Marucas posted on their FB last night that they would be reopening soon in a new location. That seems awfully fast to me.

      So sad!

Kuppers French Fries is gone as well as all 4 Kohr's locations and the 2 Berkeley Sweet Shops. (I am sick over the loss of the carousel)

Domenic Maruca (yes that is the correct spelling) was interviewed last night as the Park burned. He vowed to rebuild. http://www.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/201...

I hope they come back. I will personally contribute to their recovery effort. Their family has been long-time friends of mine and my first summer job was at their Porter Ave location. I can't imagine a world without Maruca's Tomato Pies.

          Did the Sawmill go down?

According to this morning's Asbury Park Press, the Sawmill had exterior damage but is still standing.

Other food concessions they identify as impacted, beyond those noted above, are: 3 Kohr's stands, Beachcomer Bar and Grill, Jack-N-Bill's Bar, Berkeley Sweet Shop, Park Seafood, Bubba's Dog House, and the Seaside Steak House and Clam Bar.

How sad for Seaside. I live in Manasquan and we could smell the smoke last night.

The Beach Bar (old Beachcomber) as well I believe.

We quit going to the Sawmill 10 years ago when they enclosed the old bar which used to open out onto the boardwalk and turned the whole facility into a fern bar/ meat market. Still hope they are able to pull out of this disaster...

We quit going to Seaside all together over 10 years ago when it became too Snooki-fied.

I pretty much quit goin' to the Seaside Boardwalk when I discovered girls who knew more about Tibetan Bon than Bon Jovi. Nevertheless, that doesn't make my heart any less heavy for the folks, like me, whose familes have bled sand and salt water for generations.

I saw this video this morning and it just about broke my heart. http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nightly-...

My childhood was spent in Seaside Heights at the beach, on the boardwalk, in the arcades, and at the bars that my parents and grandparents owned. I can't even bear to think about actually seeing the destruction in person.

It's raining pretty hard where I am in Central Jersey. Hopefully it hits the shore.
