Expense Account Abuse: Lunch in BH area

m
manku Sep 12, 2013 10:52 AM

Someone who is looking to run up their expense account is taking me out to lunch next week...he's staying in Century City.

I'm considering Craft. Can't think of much else - not a huge fan of Spago, and don't want to go east of La Cienega or west of 405.

Anything?

Thanks.

hinoki and mastros are dinner only.

scarpetta i won't return to (service issues in NYC and LA)

bouchon is fine, but frankly no different than craft and less convenient (food different, but both big restaurants chains by celebrity chefs)

Crustacean? BierBeisl? Polo Lounge? Wolfgang Puck at Bel Air Hotel?

Not really for expense account abuse, but of everything listed so far, BierBeisl is my favorite. Great charcuterie plate. If you want to run up the tab, just order some wine.

The food at Craft is absurdly good right now.

How about Shunji/Mori? Pretty sure you can destroy an expense account there.

                        This is easy.

Just hire Urasawa-san for a private lunch.

Not every one loves sushi. That is why I am hesitant to recommend sushi restaurants

Hey now there's a great idea. Get a few tins of the Alverta President, some blini, vodka and go to town.

And how about a bottle or two of '61 Cheval Blanc ????

And a slab of foie imported from Chez l ami Louis along with a few of their rudest cherubic waiters to serve you the goods ?????? :)

Now that's what I'm fucking talking about.

                                Yes you can.

                                And I have.

                                I like it there.

Lest it get lost amidst all the decadence, Chef Giselle's food is still rockin' at Petrossian.

                                  Off menu.
But I always order a caviar flight to start with. Petrossians will delight. Compare, contrast and enjoy. I recommend eating the roes straight up without the chopped egg, chopped onion, and mini pancakes (more taste, less filling) and with champagne rather than vodka. (Robin Leach's motto). But if you prefer, by all means, eat the egg, onion and pancake too.
