Spaghetti-eis in NYC?

Anyone hear about spaghetti-eis being served at Dolce Gelateria (formerly L'Arte Del Gelato) in W. Village?

Is it authentic... at all close to what you get in Germany?

  1. What would make spaghetti-eis "inauthentic"?

    As I understand it, spaghetti-eis is simply vanilla ice cream extruded through a pasta maker and then topped with strawberry jam to stand in place as the marinara sauce, and then garnished with coconut flakes cum cheese.

      I wonder how much the extrusion affects the perceived taste and mouthfeel. Would it melt super fast?

      seems like kind of a pointless novelty. ("oooh it's so cute!") I'd rather any extra effort go into the quality.
