LE NONNE RESTAURANT - KAPOLEI
Although not too many Chowhounder reside on the west side of Oahu, I am wondering whether anyone has tried this new Italian Restaurant. Located at the Kapolei Market Place next to Hoho Chinese Restaurant, it took over what used to be a sushi resto. Some reviews put them in a 5-star category -- any one else? Since I live on this side, I will visit this place soon.
Finally had dinner in this new Italian restaurant., located in the Kapolei Marketplace, next to Hoho Chinese restaurant. The interior is modern with paintings from Tuscany. Seating indoors, or outdoors at the patio, fronting Kapolei Regional Park. Very nice ambiance if you go there in the early evening with birds still chirping finding a place in the trees to sleep. We ordered antipasti for appetizer Carpaccio di Tonno -- Thinly sliced, Sashimi grade ahi tuna topped with asaparagus, shaved parmesan, freshly squeezed lemon and extra virgin olive oil and the usual spring spring garden salad.. For entrée, we ordered Ravioli di Spinaci -- ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, then sauteed in a butter sauce with sage and lastly topped with parmesan cheese. Also ordered Penne alla Arravviata- penne pasta braised in spicy tomato sauce with lotsa garlic and crushed chili peppers. The pasta was really hot, but with a glass of Chianti, that went very well. Dessert was homemade tiramisu, big enough for two to share. The food is in no way fusion, it's country style.
The owner/chef Pier and Steffany Antonio are from Tuscany and was very friendly. They are still in preparation for the grand opening. So, if you come out to the Leeward side, be sure to stop by this nice place. For now they open for dinner only.
