Anything new in King of Prussia?

Being dragged there next wednesday and want to have an early dinner. The traffic there I find overwhelming so I don't want to stray too far from the beaten path and end up in North Dakota. I will just go to Legal Seafood or more likely the cheesecake factory if I can't come up with anything more appealing. I was at CF two years ago and the outdoor dining was pretty mellow if you didn't look towards the parking lot. The company really helped with that and if all goes well I will have the same delightful dining companion this time as well. (not John)

  1. Well, if I was forced to choose something in barren King of Prussia, I guess Ralph's in the Sheraton is not half bad. Nice atmosphere and decent Italian food.
Legal Seafood and Seasons are the only other two I would consider.

I like Seasons 52. Don't know about Ralph's, since I didn't even like the original (which at least has history to recommend it).

Ralph's which was OK in the beginning has plummeted in my view, quite noisy and big bar crowd. for my greens and eggplant parm l will still go to the south Philadelphia Ralph's

What about Creed's? That's decent. LOL--KOP is pretty barren when it comes to places to eat!

          1. re: jarona

I know. I can still remember a family gathering at the Harvest House. It's been barren for a loooong time.

Thanks arepo and chinon. I haven't tried sullivan's yet. My friend is not a steak fan but maybe he could get a nice burger there.

Sullivan's especially around early evening can be quite crowded with the after work crowd. Food is ok, not great. You have four different steak houses in the area, Sullivans, Mortons, Ruth Chris and Capitol Grille. Of those, Capitol is the best.

Rock Bottom Brewery is ok, and is more casual. Food changes with the season and recently changed to fall. Beers are actually pretty good.

There was a previous discussion on the board about Ralph's that cautioned against it. You might try searching.

California Pizza Kitchen is the one other place that comes to mind that is acceptable.

Thanks to all. Now I have to figure out where Capitol Grille is. Would love to grab a beer but right now the cops in my area are being especially vigilant. I've been through two sobriety check points in the last month. I'd be fine to drive with one beer then a nice steak with all the trimmings but I'd have to bring a toothbrush and listerine or something with my luck. Got pulled over twice last fall when I'd had nary a drop.

                1. re: givemecarbs

Capitol Grille is around the back of the King of Prussia Mall, next to the Strayer University Building. 236 Mall Boulevard.

Thanks. Haven't been to a steak house in ages. Used to love Tad's steak house in center city he he.

Can't wait to hear what you think of Capital Grille.
Was very VERY disappointed and the price tag is enormous (which normally wouldn't bother me if only.... well ... you know...).
As a respect to Chowhounders, I repeat, I would be lying to actually recommend anything in K of P.

                  3. re: cwdonald

Like the Capital Grille and I go often, especially for the "Stoli Doli", their signature cocktail, which is probably the world's most dangerous drink (taste like pineapple juice, but is 100% vodka).

              2. There is an Italian byob in nearby Bridgeport which is good: Dolce Vita. Closed Mon., Tues., and Weds.

Just noticed you said Weds. but can't delete this.

thanks Jan and Arepo. IJan 'll bet a place with those days off might be pretty good. I'm too afraid of getting lost in K O P but others might appreciate the rec anyway. Maybe I'll get my friend to drive home and just have a few drinks on the terrace at Cheesecake Factory. Might be for the best.

                    1. re: Chinon00

Nope. None in my car and no cell phone chin. That drink sounds like just the ticket philly.

                2. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I ended up at Cheesecake Factory around sixish and asked to be seated outdoors. My friend and I were right under one of the heat lamps so we peeled off a layer and we were comfy. My friend got the soup du jour. It was cream of wild mushroom and went very well with the sourdough bread and whole grain bread in the bread basket.
I am such a sucker. I could not resist ordering a crispy apple hard cider from Angry Orchard. I liked the label on the bottle so much that I brought home the bottle so that I can soak and peel it off. That is one angry treefolk.
Meatloaf for me and eggplant parm for my friend. The portions were huge so yet again no room for the actual cheesecake. One of these days. Friendly attentive service and real mashed with the meatloaf. Onion gravy too.
