  1. Have you tried Nordic House?

    1. best lox i've found is at the farmers market in JLS. i saw the same one in mountain view, so it's probably also available at the berkeley farmer's market. once in a while whole foods carries the monterey fish market lox which is also quite good.

      1. Pretty sure Saul's had it in the Deli counter:

If the OP is asking for gravlax, (s)he probably isn't looking for more traditional "available @ Saul's" (and many other places) lox. (Apologies if the Saul's deli counter actually carries gravlax).

Chop Bar has it on the menu, but you might have a hard time getting a to-go size portion

        2. It's been over a year since we were there, but Sidebar in Oakland, 542 Grand Ave., always has it on their dinner menu under the Starters. I'm pretty sure you could get it to go.

We weren't that impressed with the service, the entrees, or the desserts - but that duck liver crostini and the salmon gravlox were outstanding! My mother used to make her own gravlox, and this was easily as good as hers. Assuming, of course, things haven't slid downhill since we were last there!

          1. It is super easy to make. I do not think i have ever seen it for sale in the US.

I've seen gravlax on lots of menus, from Chez Panisse to Ikea.

                Does Ikea do horsemeat gravlax?

In Restaurants, yes. I was referring to Specialty Stores, Delis and the like. I should have clarified that.
The poster was not very clear on how much they are looking for and in what form Sliced or Whole.

Ikea has it. I'd be surprised if Nordic House doesn't.

We don't have a lot of Scandinavian delis around here.

I have not seen at Nordic House and they do not list it on their Website.
And do expect Ikea's Gravlax to be "super yummy"

              2. I can't be positive, but I think I've seen gravlax at The Pasta Shop in Rockridge. If not there, maybe the fish market in the same complex.
