Burns Campfire Sausage

  • 4

Hi All,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me. My Dad grew up in Saskatchewan and was/is a big fan of the canned Burns Campfire Sausages. Unfortunately, we've never been able to find them in Ontario. The closest we have here is the Maple Leaf Vienna Sausages but they fall short according to my Dad.

I was hoping to track down somewhere to order them on line for him. My Google searches haven't come up with anything so far.

Does anyone happen to know if they are still being made and, if they are, where I might be able to order some?

Thanks!

  1. Burns has not been in business since 1996.

Thanks Scary Bill. That gave me a new direction to seach in.

I found out that Burns was purchased by Maple Leaf Foods in 1996. Maple Leaf still produces at least some of the Burns line of products. Whether that includes the Campfire Sausages remains to be seen. I've sent an email to them to find out.

In the meantime, if anyone recalls seeing the sausages on the shelf of their local grocery store recently I'd love to hear about it.

      Cheers!

    2. I've been looking for those wonderful, delicious sausages also. We used to buy them in B.C. when we would go camping. I haven't seen them for a long time. Hopefully Maple Leaf makes them using the same recipe. Our family loved them.

      1. In B.C. in the 1970s we used to be able to buy canned "Campfire Sausages". They came in the same type of can as luncheon meat or canned corned beef. Every now and then I go on the 'net hoping to find some trace of them still in existence. I found them delicious and would love to get some if they are still around.... Vienna sausages are quite different – in appearance and taste. Help please.....

        Many thanks
