Can anyone tell me about some exceptional places in Sugarland? Mexican, seafood, and BBQ are the main things I'm looking for, but anything exceptional would be appreciaetd.
Thanks,

There's a fine mom and pop Tex-Mex place, Pico de Gallo, 3121 Hwy 6. All of the usual dishes are well-prepared, and service is energetic and friendly.
There's not much good seafood to speak of, except for individual dishes at particular restaurants. I like the "shrimp on the green" at Willie's Ice House (yes, I know it's a chain, so sue me), fried shrimp atop a green salad. Sweet Mesquite usually does grilled catfish well. The location in the Township (Mo. City) is better than the one on Sweetwater, IMO.
For BBQ, Brook Street, 1418 Hwy 6, has better-than-average brisket and ribs, and is one of the few places around town where you can get a good pulled pork sandwich.
There are several good Thai places: Thai Cottage on Sweetwater is good, as is the one in the shopping center on Hwy 6 at Austin Parkway, whose name I can never remember.
Sugar Land has a number of great Indian restaurants, including outposts of Shiva and Madras Pavilion. But my very favorite is Cafe India, 2319 Williams Trace. Service can be slow at night, but I would put their food up against any Indian restaurant in Houston. The chicken biryani is awesome. They have an excellent lunch buffet, 7 days a week (I think).

My fellow Houston 'hounds are tired of hearing me talk about Cafe Natalie. This is the best restaurant in Fort Bend County, and you must go. It used to be in a tiny storefront on Hwy 90A; last year it moved farther down 90A toward Richmond to a beautiful new location (2012 Hwy 90A, just east of Pitts Road). Owner Eddie Bandak does beef, seafood, and pasta equally well, and has a great wine list. Don't miss the shrimp bisque, but save room for the best creme brulee in metro Houston.
Two Italian places that I like are Perry's Italian Kitchen in New Territory, and Italian Maid Cafe in Richmond.

Those are just a few of my favorites. If you have questions about any other types of food, or specific resaturants, I'll certainly try to answer them.

Japaniero's has had a lot of buzz (including a favorable review by Robb Walsh) but I haven't made it over there yet.

What about Tony's Grill in Stafford. I haven't been but some others got together for some phillipino food recently and gave favorable reviews.

My favorite old school tex mex is Lopez on Wilcrest just north of 59. The Nachos espeiales, fajita's, fajita taco's, dinner plates, chicken enchiladas and carnitas are all good. ive been eating at Lopez for 25 years or so and little has changed in the food with the exception of a few new menu items.
